I'm Pixy... Pixyboots

Adrienne_Sculpture.jpeg

I am born and raised in Singapore, but now based in the Kingdom of Norway. I was a self-taught artist but now I am coming into my second year of higher studies at Einar Granum College of Fine Art in Oslo. My practice involves several media, like mixed media paintings, film, murals, illustration, graphic design and printmaking.

When I was four, I filled recycled Singapore Airlines A4 paper with manga heroines, Hans Christian Andersen's princesses, and characters from Chinese historical dramas. Every morning before sunrise to bedtime, my parents' living room was my first studio, where I spent thousands of hours drawing.

At sixteen, I wanted to become a film director. After earning degrees in Japanese Studies, Sociology, and Film & TV, I spent two decades in film production, events, management, and distribution but during the pandemic, I began to feel the pull of something deeper: a need to create, to bring the ideas and stories living inside me into the world. I finally directed my first short film, GONG, which premiered at FANTASPOA 2025 and competed for the Méliès d’Argent Best Short Film Award.

Today, I am also a mum and the Festival Director for the inaugural Singapore Nordic Film Festival in 2025.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Do You Know?

The name "PIXYBOOTS" came about because

a wonderful friend from England loved to call me "PIXY"

and on a cold winter day, he gave me furry boots

and chanted "PIXY BOOTS, PIXY BOOTS".

In memory of David Passes

the finest, most magical and creative person and manifestor in the world.
