Director's Bio:

Adrienne Seet is a Singaporean Director based in Norway. Her previous credits include TV producer and International Event Media Consultant, working across continents in the US, Europe and Asia since 2003. She holds a Masters in Film and TV from the Queensland University of Technology, Australia, with a Bachelor of Arts from the National University of Singapore. She is also an experienced artist and graphic designer, and her dream is to write and direct fantasy and science fiction films. GONG is her debut short film as a film director, and it has been offically selected for 2025's Méliès d’Argent Best Short Film competition in FANTASPOA, Latin America’s largest genre film festival.

Adrienne is currently developing various projects including The Shadower, The Storm and her feature film Thin Ice,

New poster design after making a poll on Facebook, the design is so much better after getting feedback from friends :)
My short film is going to have its international premiere in 2 weeks! I will be traveling to the festival and having a Q&A, my first as a director! Details coming on April 1st (and no it's not a joke....). The festival is just very strict about releasing the publicity on the same day.
I have already gotten support from the Norwegian Film Institute to travel there, and I feel so privileged to be in this position right now. Thank you, universe ❤️

Recently thanks to a coaching session about my victim saboteur, I understood that I have been tied to being a "good daughter", keeping me poorer than I have to be, and I struggle with manifesting abundance. My inner child is keeping me at the same level of savings, I didn't want to be different from the rest of the family, I kept myself small, my head low so that I don't cause trouble or dominate. Now I want to grow beyond this, so Universe help me. I want to be a good person and I want to manifest that by becoming wealthy so that I can one day fulfill my dream of building schools and libraries for poorer kids around the world. I want to drop being a "good daughter" as defined by my inner child because it no longer serves me. A good daughter can have other definitions than the one set by the 4-year-old me.

My son as a Super Hero who flies over Singapore :) he dreamt about this a few months ago and I was stuck in what style I should paint it in. I was nearly going to paint over it when I decided to experiment with textures. Turned out not too bad. Glad I didn't paint over it!

Tuesdays are Croquis-days and I was sketching this fellow artist in the studio with 1.5 - 4 minutes for each drawing. Turns out that she liked to of my drawings a lot and it was her birthday! so I gave her the favourite, the last one I drew with her mobile in her hand. Day 2 of sketching with the glass dip pen - portraits of people in the NRK program Portrait Master. Very fascinated by the different pen strokes and there is so.ething about the #glassdippen that makes me feel very free, like it doesn't matter if they smudge, in fact it looks better when it does. Watch all the way to the end if you want to watch me sketch at normal speed! :)

Quick sketches from watching the program @portrettmesterskap on NRK. Trying to challenge myself and almost to prove to myself that I wouldn't need 4 hours to draw someone. This was done with a glass dip pen and black ink. Love the uneven texture and the unpredictability of the ink. It loosens up my style and make me feel it is not risky to mess up.

Sometimes a painting requires a long break before the breakthrough. my 4-year-old dreamt he was flying over Singapore so I painted this picture of him flying. then I hated it. It was too clean, too perfect but I didn't know how to make it more interesting. I turn up at my canvas, and I paint a few strokes. not working. I drop it. then I came back every few days, but still not inspired. finally I came determined to paint it over with white to start from scratch, when I decided what the heck, it is going to be destroyed anyway, may as well use my knife to put some white paint in the background. suddenly the energy loosens up, and I want texture. So I dig around for artifacts to create texture, then I decided to use vermillion and yellow paint on a random netted thingie I found, and use it like a print. After that I broke up the colours by painting vermillion with medium outside the lines, and added random white highlights. Found out my old brush can make ovals, so I used that to paint treetops on the green. Thicken my palette knife with paint and made the subject more solid and cubistic with structure. Made the subject stand out by adding charcoal lines. Now I just have to add my signature after the paint dries :)

Two hard days of writing applications makes my head explode! It helps so much to just look at something else other than a screen. This is also the first time I use a ring lamp overhead and I didn't place it well, shall adjust properly next time!

I almost forgot to post pics of my Sunday Market experience! It was fun and I got to speak with a Malaysian and two Taiwanese ladies fresh off from the plane, and this was the first time I have done this. I have learnt that I need to organise my table more and wrap my wares in plastic (unfortunately).... i'm going to pack my gift tags in a bag as well so that I can sell a pack. Right now I am busy making high quality merino wool designer socks, will post pics in my next post. I am working on launching my online store as well. Watch this space!

@inktober Day 2 prompt of #inktober2024 #inktober "Discover" - inspired by a novel "Isobelle" from many years ago. This is done using my new toy - a glass dip pen! It's quite cool how the ink is unpredictable.

"Scars of Childhood" (2024) Original art. 28 x 35 cm. This painting was inspired by my therapy sessions to get over my Complex PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) that stems from my childhood experience. It was originally an abstract painting underneath full of slashes from 2 years ago, and I wanted to paint over it as I felt I have matured in my artist journey and wanted something new. As I was painting over with coral pink paint, I realised a face was emerging and somehow I saw a Leonardo da Vinci face (from "Lady with an Ermine") and I wanted to capture the same expression and light in this painting.

I also wanted to drip paint and make it deliberately ugly around the face. Perhaps it's a message to my inner child who has been bruised and scarred - all the ugliness in the world cannot affect the serenity you have within. And that is such an important message in the world today. The ugliness of this world was first piled up on top of your original pure heart that is peaceful. Don't let it touch you.

I have just finished my dinner on the terrace, and the wind is blowing strong with the rognberry leaves rustling. Lying on my outdoor sofa, warm and cosy under my wool blanket, I saw this lone cloud racing from left to right on the azure sky. I ask the cloud, what is your hurry? If you are rushing to join the other clouds, you will soon die, because you will fall as rain. I have just completed a fund application for my short film, so I am quite at peace with myself and the world. Life is so beautiful now, and I have travelled a long way to be here.
